How this site for

Jeff came about

Years ago I got tired of every time we changed ISPs or the phone company would change names I would end up with a new email address.  This was before Gmail got popular.   So I decided to get a domain name and my address would never change.  Jeff and I went on my back deck to think about it.  We were setting out there and I said something about how I like My Back Deck, and the name came from that comment.   I’ve had this domain name for many years now.  I’ve used it for emails but never really for a website.   I now have a screened in back porch I set on.  Patsy and I were working on the videos we are creating in celebration of Jeff’s life and I thought I would like to tell some of his friends the story behind some of the pictures.

Setting on the back porch drinking coffee it came to me.   Why don’t I use My Back Deck and tell my memories of Jeff.  So Patsy and I are going to start telling some of our memories of Jeff (and maybe a little trivia about him).   We’re old so we can’t remember everything in order, We’re just going to tell them as they come to us.

Hopefully Jeff’s and our friends and family will enjoy some of our memories of Jeff though out his life.

Halloween!

By the time he was a teenager he started creating his own haunted house for Halloween. In 2007 we built our biggest one ever. We spent over 2 months building the haunt and the props. It was awesome.

When Jurassic Park came out, Jeff’s cousin Wendy took him to see it.

He was hooked from then on. After he got bigger he ran his own forum JP Universe for a while. He wanted to start his own special cloud hosting company named after JP. Nublar Cloud Hosting.

He actually wrote php scripts and sold them to web hosting companies. When he got older his friend Ben started taking him to the Atlanta PHP Meetup and they went to some PHP Conferences together. Jeff was always an avid fan of PHP>

Jeff’s Marker

Sad to say, but it has taken us 6 years to get Jeff a marker. Some places we contacted said they couldn’t do what we wanted. There was one company  a couple years ago we were about to do business with in Chattanooga and they went out of business. Several marker places have went out…

LOLCODE

It’s been a while since I took time to add a memory. We’ve been busy with a fund raiser to pay off Jeff’s funeral bill so we could afford to get him a marker. The fund raiser was a success and now we are looking at markers. We want a marker that represents who Jeff…
